Theses photos were sent in by a lady who made the Aran sweater
in a heather blue for her son.
**** I work in a grocery store as a cashier, and just the other day I had two ladies checking out, and when I was done with the sale and since I didn't have another customer in line, I went to the other lady of the pair and said, "Now, let's see that beautiful sweater you're wearing", as she had on an obviously hand knit Aran cardigan. I expected her to say something like, "I just got back from a trip to Ireland", or "a friend got me this when she was in Ireland", but instead; the first lady said to me, "She MADE it!!!! She just finished it!!!!", and the second lady-- the one wearing the sweater-- just *beamed*!! She said that it's the very first sweater she's ever knitted, and that others told her she was nuts to try an Aran sweater as her first project, but that the kit and book she used made it easy to follow and that she learned so much in the process. She said that she'd made a few small mistakes in the sweater, but that she'd left them in, because like the quilt makers who deliberately put a mistake in their quilts, she didn't want to offend God by producing a perfect project! I've knit for a long time, so I examined her bands and her seams and the overall fit of the sweater, and although there were some little clues that this was a first-timers project, all in all it looked pretty darn good. So I told her she should enter it in the County Fair this summer. She said that she's already been asked by family members to make Aran sweaters for them too, and so she's probably going to be making lots more of them. Anyways, she had the highest praise for your kits and instructions and wool, and told me to be sure to check them out on the internet.**** CLICK
