*** Just a word to those of you who have visited my web page in the past and have noted that I am not offering any yarn. I am sad to say I lost my supplier. They are no longer going to carry the new Zealand wool yarn that I posted on this site. The price to replace this fine yarn is just too expensive. When I first started this little cottage industry business I was really pleased to offer a nice quality wool yarn that most knitters could afford. Since then the price of yarn doubled and the postage to ship it went sky high. Now they are not going to carry it at all. I feel really sad about this as my kits and yarn was a big part of my business, and I apologize to anyone who planned to order a kit or yarn in the near future. I am still going to continue to carry my great little how to books and hope to add a baby sweater in time for next Saint Paddies day If anyone is interested in a baby sweater and tam please email me and let me know.
Aran knitting has been a tradition in Ireland for a very long time. Long before we knew anything about thermal dynamics the women there were knitting theses knobby pattern stitches into the sweaters they made for their families. We now know that trapped air spaces make for a warm garment and with reasonable care these beautiful sweaters can last a lifetime. These Irish sweaters are sometimes called
Fisherman Knit because in the small villages along the coast these particular patterns
evolved. 2. Pattern Sheets are for the more experienced knitter. These come in a clear plastic protective cover. Included in the books are lessons for each pattern panel which feature
purl stitch, Irish Moss, double cables and Honeycomb stitch, these are
explained in detail so you will be familiar with it's construction and design,
combined they give that rich knobby texture Aran is famous for. Many
illustrations to show you finished work. I am just an email away to answer any questions you might have as you go along.
